CO2 laser resurfacing can help reverse the effects of aging, acne, blemishes, and scarring. By using short, concentrated, pulsating beams of light, the procedure targets irregular skin and removes the epidermis while heating the dermis. This stimulates the growth of new collagen fibers and replaces the blemished skin with new, smoother, firmer skin. The benefit of laser resurfacing technology is precision – fine lines, wrinkles, scars from acne or chickenpox, birthmarks, and more can be specifically targeted and removed.
After the procedure, you will experience a recovery period of up to two weeks. For the first week, you may feel like you have a mild sunburn with some redness and swelling, and possibly some itching and stinging. The second week, those sensations will diminish and your skin will peel to complete the healing process. Your rejuvenated skin may have a pink hue, but that will fade over time. Once your skin has healed, you will see an immediate difference and will notice improvements for up to a year. You will also most likely have sun sensitivity for up to a year. Your results will be long-lasting, but normal aging processes will continue. You may repeat the procedure as necessary. Dr. Atchison will walk you through the procedure, as well as give you all the details you need for you to determine if this procedure is right for you.
