Ear Surgery – Central Plains Aesthetic Surgery

Ear surgery, or otoplasty, helps to improve the shape, position, or proportion of the ear. Whether congenital or as a result of trauma, ear surgery can bring your ears into better alignment with the rest of your facial contours. During the procedure, incisions are made on the back of the ear, and, depending on your unique circumstances, the cartilage is reduced, or the folds are made larger in order to decrease ear size. If any incisions must be made on the front, they are made within the folds so as not to be seen. Internal, non-removable sutures are used to create and secure the newly shaped cartilage in place.

After the procedure, bandages are applied to protect the incisions and must not be removed as they are essential for the proper healing of your new ear shape. Although it can be itchy under the bandages, they must remain secure so as not to disrupt the healing process. When the healing period has finished, the bandages will be removed and you will be able to notice your results immediately. Dr. Atchison will provide all the details necessary to determine if this procedure is right for you.
