Facelift – Central Plains Aesthetic Surgery

Over time, our face loses its youthful contours as skin loosens, facial fat diminishes, and gravity sets in. Heredity, stress, sun, or smoking can expedite the aging process as well. A facelift, or rhytidectomy, reverses this process and improves visible signs of aging in your face and neck. For a traditional facelift, and depending on your unique circumstances, an incision is made along the hairline and then facial fat may be resculpted or redistributed in your face, jowls, and neck, and the underlying tissue may be repositioned. Occasionally, fat transfers or fillers are necessary to replace lost volume. Commonly, deeper layers of the face and muscles are also lifted. Once your contours have been elevated, the skin is repositioned and tightened.

Your results will be most noticeable once you’ve completed your rest period, and the swelling and bruising subside in a couple of weeks. You will feel back to normal after two to three months. Your results are long-lasting; however, the procedure doesn’t stop the natural aging process. Sun protection and a healthy lifestyle will extend the lifetime of your results. Dr. Atchison will walk you through the procedure, as well as give you all the details you need for you to determine if this procedure is right for you.
